A Curious Incident in the Cryptgarden Forest

Welcome to the Ripon Winter Short Campaign

On November 1, 2009 the a motley crew of D&D players descended on the Ripon College Anthropology Laboratory for the weekly, Sunday night gaming session.

William Whitehead was the GM, introducing the new short campaign called “A Curious Incident in the Cryptgarden Forest.” In attendance were Mark K., Anthony F., Alex M., Seth M., Mark M., and Pat L. The players were instructed to create any character they wanted using the Wizards of the Coast, Dungeons and Dragons Character Builder and supply themselves with magic items ranging from level 20 down to 13, some substitution was allowed, but this was pretty much the set up.

Instead of just jumping into gaming I wanted to develop a bit of back story, so I gave the players a blank sheet of lined paper and a blank index card. I then had them hand over their character sheet and paper the the player to their left. They then answered the following questions.

1. Write one fact about the character, then pass to the left. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. On you index card write one secret about your character, then hand to the GM face down.

Now answer the following questions about your character on its sheet. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19.

I then shuffled the index cards and handed them back face down to the players, they kept them faced down. 20. On the card just handed to you write a secret about the character.
